Design on a Dime.

By: Pablo Esparza

Every season we see new trends. One day you’re in and the next you’re out. This can be an overwhelming feeling, even for an experienced fashionista. The key to fashion isn’t necessarily to follow it. I mean, if girls are all wearing cute floral prints or guys are wearing hip eye-wear, why not be the one that stands out and put on your best black and white combo, which is always chic might I add, and strut your stuff through the quad. On that same note, one can never go wrong with black, I mean never! Look at it this way, will you ever question Audrey Hepburn? Seriously, she looked flawless all by simply wearing a little black dress accessorized with a set of classic pearls around her neck. We’re in college and we’re ballin’ on a budget, but we all are still striving to achieve the ultimate goal: look cute. You don’t have to spend thousands to achieve the Hepburn look, not even hundreds! Check this out!

At Target, or as I pronounce it Tar-Jay, in a fancy French way of course, has a cute little black dress for only 19.99! Yes, 20 bucks! That’s how much we normally spend at Starbucks, but here you can actually wear it!

Complete the look with pearls from Claires, for only 16.50! The marvelous thing about purchasing these items is that they can be used over and over again! Try dazzling out that simple black dress with a loud yellow wedge or teal belt

Who said fashion was only for women!? Sure, our options may be limited, but with the right choices you will definitely turn heads. They way I think about a mans wardrobe is simple, you need to have statement pieces. You can wear a classic button up shirt, but once you add a bow tie you have officially crossed over to the fashionable side of life. Accessorizing is key when trying to revamp your wardrobe. Start by buying new socks. Yes, I know it sounds strange, but wearing awesome printed tube socks or a neon sock under your pants can drastically alter your casual look into something amazing.

It’s a new year, new faces, new classes, new loves, new loses, new fashions. Everyday is a chance to change the way you feel, if clothes make you feel better then change your style! The possibilities are endless!

Always remember, dress to express not to impress.
